Shakib named ACC goodwill envoy
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was named the goodwill envoy of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) with a view to encourage the youth to become active in preventing corruption.
Expressing his willingness in response to ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood's request, Shakib said, "I'll come to any programme of ACC.
"We too want a corruption-free country. We want to see that when we submit our passports at immigration offices of other countries, they welcome us as a corruption-free country and a role model for the world," he said.
The world's top-ranked all-rounder went to ACC's Segunbagicha Headquarter as part of a special invitation from the Mahmood.
Pointing out that the youth have played a part in every crucial movement in the country's history, Mahmood said that the ACC is attempting to involve youth in every programme.
Addressing Shakib, he said: "You've taken Bangladesh to a special position and brought dignity. We're proud of it. Now is the best time for you to give something to the country. If you can encourage at least 10 youths to live an honest life, it will be a great achievement."
