Son beaten dead after killing parents in Manikganj
A drug-addict man was beaten to death by a mob when he was fleeing after killing his parents in Shingair Upazila in Manikganj this morning.
The parents are Mohiuddin Pramanik, 60, a rickshaw-puller, and his wife Shufia Khatun, 50, residents of Niltek village in the upazila.
The killer son, Saidur Rahman, 30, was a drug addict, our Manikganj correspondent reports quoting police.
Saidur locked into a quarrel with his father over distribution of their property around 10:30am.
At one stage of altercation, Saidur swooped on Pramanik and stabbed him to death, said AMM Kamrul Islam, assistant superintendent of police in Manikganj.
Saidur also attacked his mother when she was trying to save her husband, leaving her dead on the spot, the ASP said.
While villagers started rushing to the spot, the son managed to flee the scene and held a child hostage to take shelter at a neighbour’s house.
He also threatened that he will kill the child if he is attacked by the mobs, the ASP said.
On information, police rushed to the spot and fired teargas in the room, forcing Saidur to come out.
As soon as, he went out of the house, locals caught and beat him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot, the police officer said.
Police recovered the bodies to send those to the Manikganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
