Style Evolution: Shakira
Over the years, Shakira has given us many hits like 'Whenever Wherever', 'Hips Don't Lie', 'Loca', etc. She is also the reason many of us wanted to learn belly-dancing when younger! While she celebrates her 40th birthday, let us have look at the superstar's style evolution throughout the years.
In her earlier years, she gave us grunge vibes with her bold red cringed hair which she always paired with all-black outfits. However, in 2000 she transformed her hair into her signature blonde curls. It was also the same time she started the trend of hip scarves with flared pants.
In 2002, she went even lighter to platinum-blonde and chopped off her luscious locks for an edgy bob. During that time her go-to look was nude lips and smoky eyes.
She decided to keep the smoky eyes a part of her look but grew her hair out to romantic waves with a side part in 2003. Shakira has never been afraid of experimenting with her looks and usually went with black leather outfits that showed off a lot of skin.
In her hit song Hips Don't Lie, Shakira toned down her hair once more and opted for wavy honey blonde layers. During the same time she ditched her edgy goth/rock look and started to go for a fresher look with minimal makeup. In 2009, the superstar lightened her hair to beach blonde but kept the nude lips with soft kohl-lined eyes.
Shakira once again opted for short hair by cutting it off to a chic bob back in 2011, but then grew it out in 2013 to soft wavy hair, and has since kept the style. If there has been one constant in her style statement, it is her blonde hair and edgy outfits that always seem to push the boundaries of fashion.
