Upcoming grand biopics

With the upcoming rush of biopics in Bollywood, the years 2018 and 2019 might come to be known as 'the years of biopics' in Bollywood history. 2018 and 2019 are going to see a bunch of biopics on different Indian personalities – from politicians to legendary actors to former sports superstars. We are only days away from the release of Akshay Kumar's biopic on Arunachalam Murugunantham. On 27 April 2018, Kangana Ranaut will return to the silver screen with her much-talked about biopic Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.

Soorma starring Diljit Dosanjh is set to release on June 6, 2018 which is based on the life of the hockey player Sandeep Singh. It will be followed by the much awaited Ranbir Kapoor starrer biopic on Sanjay Dutt's life, which is scheduled to release on June 29, 2018. This year might end with Rohit Shetty's untitled biopic which would feature Parineeti Chopra essaying the role of the Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza. On August 8, 2019, Ranveer Singh is set to 'bowl out' the audiences in the Kapil Dev biopic 83 as the cricketer. The ace actor Nawazuddin Siddiqi who has graced the silver screen through his portrayal of diverse roles, will be debuting in the biopic genre by taking on the role of late Balasaheb Thackarey. Shraddha Kapoor will be seen in the role of Saina Nehwal in an upcoming biopic which is scheduled to be released in 2019. Aishwarya Rai has been approached to play Shehnaz Hussain in an upcoming biopic which is still in the planning stages. Priyanka Chopra who has formerly impressed viewers in Mary Kom is being considered to play PT Usha in an upcoming untitled biopic. Ali Fazal from last year's film Victoria and Abdul has been in talks with a Hollywood director to star in important role in a biopic.
