Through the Eyes of Kornia
It has not been long since she has been under the lime light. Her rise to fame came along after her participation in the singing based reality show titled "Power Voice". Ever since then, the artist did not have to look back, and continues to pursue music as a career. From the pool of the new comers in the musical arena, Kornia is surely a name with its own charm. Her voice has been graced nation-wide through various stage shows, live concerts, mixed albums and even as a playback singer. Given her virtuous routine, we at Showbiz decided to conduct a session of rendezvous with Kornia for our readers.
Can you shed some light on your latest endeavours with music?
Well, the live TV shows and stage performances have been a constant and entertaining the fans. Apart from that, recently a music video of mine titled "Gangchill" was released under the label of Gaanchill. I'm lucky to say that it was a favourite not only amongst the fans, but various other singers from the industry appreciated the music video as well. This Eid, my song "Shohor" was also released; it too was a great song which was written by Tareq Ananda.
Do you think being involved mostly with stage performances poses a threat to your musical career?
Too much of anything is not good, thus I tend to keep myself busy with live shows on TV as well. I have also made it a practice to tint every presentation of mine with uniqueness so that the fans are always eager to watch. The shows do tend to stress out my vocals at times, but as an artist I believe there is no substitute to stage performances.
In order to maintain a healthy voice, you must exercise your vocal chords regularly. What's your routine for that?
In this business, the voice is numero uno hence it is crucial that we attend to it in the best of manners. I perform the Sargam every morning along with various other raagas from the internet. For my betterment, I also tend to practice all that I have learnt over the years from my gurus.
Recently, there has been a decline in the number of full-length albums being released and the artists are opting for albums with a few songs or even one song at times. What are your thoughts on that?
To me, it seems that an album reflects the identity of a singer; hence, it encouraged me towards mine. As for the new trend, change is inevitable and it is a choice of personal inclination. I believe the factor at play here is not the amount of songs you can tick off on the track list, but rather the passion and dedication with which the songs have been composed.
Could you tell our readers about your plans with the new album?
At first I was planning on a full-length album, but later I decided to go with the trend. So, I finally planned on having three songs on my first album. The songs will be a mixture of semi-classical, soft and melodious tunes. Hopefully, my fans will take a liking towards the album like they have always done to my other songs.
We would like to know about your playback singing. Could you elaborate?
As for playback singing, I have actually voiced a handful of songs for films till now. The item song for the film "Runout" has been released for some time now and the rest are scheduled for release in the near future. However I wish to continue my playback singing as I'm rather motivated by it.
Who are your role models in the musical arena?
Since my childhood, I have been mesmerized by Runa Laila mam. Her absolute refinement truly intrigues me and I am touched emotionally by her vocals. Her performances were always a treat to my senses. Since my college days, I have performed her songs and to this day, she continues to inspire me. I am also motivated by Bappa Da, James Bhai and the band Warfaze.
Can you tell us about what your future plans are?
I would like to continue to perform on stage and add more diversity to my shows. I hope to enhance my overall stage performances so that I can win more hearts through my singing.
