5 things a girl must have in her wardrobe this winter

Winter is fast approaching with shorter days and cooler weather. It is the best time of the year with its frosty mornings, bhapa pitha and of course, winter weddings. This is the time when we start scouring our closets for the forgotten knits and yearn for cozy warmth. However, this is also the time when most of us go through the dilemma of what to wear. There has been one too many incidents of us dumping all of our clothes on the ground and realizing that choosing our outfits for the season is a feat too tough for us to undertake. Well, here's my list of the five winter must-haves for 2017 to save you from any further troubles.

1. A JACKET TO OUTSHINE 'EM ALL

Not only does a jacket keep you warm in the winter, it can instantly make your outfit more interesting. Be it a leather jacket, a jean jacket or a fur coat — even a simple outfit of plain jeans and a t-shirt that you threw on in minutes would look as if you put in a bunch of time and effort into it. The jacket that you choose might be studded or it might have some kind of animal print on it; slinging it over your shoulder would also give you a very trendy look, rendering you effortlessly ready for Instagram. 

2. A HOODIE FOR THE CHILLY WEATHER

A hoodie would be the perfect outfit for the days when you just want to relax and be all comfy, but still look decent enough to get out and about. The epitome of comfort, the hoodie does not only prevent you from freezing to death, it acts like a protective mama bear as you can stuff your stomach with all the pitha you can think of and it still wouldn't show. Furthermore, the hoodie can be a means of hiding from paparazzi (or exes), thanks to the hood.

A colourful shawl or scarf can instantly uplift an outfit, be it a traditional salwar kameez or even a western one consisting of a shirt and trousers. With the myriad of choices available in the market today, one is sure to find the perfect shawl. It could be hand-embroidered, printed or be ombre dyed, and the materials could range from pashmina to cashmere to even fleece. A traditional shawl is a must have for all the girls wanting to spice up their outfits with a burst of colour in this dreary weather. In addition to that, a shawl can be draped in a number of different ways, so you can create multiple looks from the same piece of clothing!

4. A BEANIE FOR YOUR HEAD

The perfect accessory to all outfits, a beanie can do wonders for you on bad hair days. It keeps your ears warm and paired with some nerd glasses, you are ready for a photoshoot day. Beanies nowadays come in all shapes and sizes, with pompoms attached to them and also in every shade imaginable. Hence there is sure to be one for all the unique beauties out there!

5. A FANCY DRESS TO CONQUER THE WINTER EVENTS

Winter is known to be the season of weddings, and so you should be prepared to wow all the guests with your eye-catching looks. You could choose to go the traditional route with either a saree or a salwar kameez. Or, you could choose to go western with a mesmerizing gown or even a fusion of the two genres. Whichever type you select, it should be appropriate for the event, maybe with a little bling (why not?) and also comfortable (you don't want to be talking to your crush in a sequins dress while your back itches incessantly.)

Relax as you sip on your steaming cup of tea in the foggy morning, for you no longer have to stress over your outfits for the season. Equipped with these pieces, you are ready to battle the winter wars. Just remember, confidence is key and therefore don't be shy to strut like a Hollywood star even if you're in your pajamas.
