Shilpakala holds Independence Day celebrations
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organised a two day (March 25-26) celebration programme marking the 44th Independence and National Day. On the second day, BSA in association with Liberation War Museum staged a play “Juddhapuran” at Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA. Directed by Anisul Haque Borun, the “Paribesh Theatre” production zoomed in on the atrocious saga of Mirpur Jalladkhana (slaughter house).
Apart from this, a discussion along with a cultural programme, were held at the National Theatre Hall of BSA where President of Muktijoddha Sanghoti Parishad Col. (retd.) Shawkat Ali, MP was chief guest. Freedom Fighter and human rights activist Sultana Kamal was present as a special guest. Dr. Nuzhat Chowdhury, daughter of a martyr spoke at the event.
A cultural event followed, where elocutionists –Ahkamullah and Jharna Sarkar recited poems; members of Dhaka Sangskritik Dol rendered choral songs, noted artiste Shakila Zafar sang solos; popular singer Krishnakoli with her band members performed music; Saidur Rahman Boyati presented jarigaan on the Liberation War; artistes of BAFA and Spondon performed dances; indigenous dance artistes presented the umbrella dance (Marma), pot dance (Tanchanga) and bamboo dance (Bom). Artistes of Tangail District Shilpakala Academy performed a dance piece titled “Bongey Ora Ke Hey”.
Noted elocutionists Bhashwar Bandopadhyay and Krishti Hefaz emceed the event.
