Sheikh Jamal in Bhutan King’s Cup final
Bangladesh Premier League champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club reached the final of the King’s Cup in Bhutan after beating defending champions Manang Marshyangdi Club of Nepal 2-1 in the first semifinal at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu today.
Cedri Abe had given MMC the lead in the 54th minute but substitute striker Shakhawat Hossain Rony scored the equaliser for Sheikh Jamal in the 84th minute to take the game to thirty minutes of extra time.
Gambian forward Landing Darboe then scored in the first minute extra time to give Sheikh Jamal the lead.
Midfielder Sohel Rana received a second yellow card towards the end of the match, but ten-man Sheikh Jamal held on to the lead for a precious win.
Sheikh Jamal will take on the winners of the second semifinal between Pune FC and Mohun Bagan in the final which will be held on December 2.
