Sabotage halts train service for 15hrs
Rail communication on Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj route remained suspended for 15 hours till this afternoon as a train derailed after miscreants removed fishplates from the railway tracks near Lalitnagar Railway Station in Godagari uapzila of Rajshahi.
The engine and a bogie of Ishwardi-bound train from Chapainawabganj veered off the tracks around 11:30pm following the removal of two fishplates from the tracks, said Abdul Karim, superintendent of Rajshahi Railway Station.
The train service resumed around 3:00pm after a rescue train from Ishwardi of Pabna rushed to the spot and repaired the damaged railway tracks,said Mosharraf Hossain, divisional railway manager of Rajshahi.
None was hurt in the derailment, our Rajshahi correspondent reports quoting the railway official.
The sabotage took place when the BNP-led 20-party alliance is observing the nationwide nonstop blockade for the 40th consecutive day to protest against restrictions on its January 5 rally where BNP chief Khaleda Zia was scheduled to address the crowd.
