Rejoicing in the season of flowers
Artistes of Chhayanaut ushered in Spring, the king of all seasons, with the rendition of songs, recitation and dance recitals at the cultural organisation's main auditorium on the evening of March 1. Rejoicing in the spirit of spring, which is synonymous to the celebration of life, was the highlight of the event.
Spring was hailed with a solo drut khayal performance set on Raga “Basant” by a Chhayanaut Guru Asit Dey. Dey's presentation of bolbut, pukar and akar taan was appreciated by many as he diffused the colours of spring through his rendition.
Several dance artistes, attired in vibrant costumes, performed to a Tagore song “Amar Bon-e Bon-e Dhorlo Mukul”. The performance, evoking the season of flowers, symbolised youth, vigour and love. Among the featured dancers Sudeshna Swayamprabha stood out in showcasing mudra coupled with enamoured expressions.
Chhayanaut artistes danced to several live presentations of songs -- “Fagun Hawaye Hawaye”, “Bosontey Phul Ganthlo” and “Ami Poth Bhola Ek Pothik” -- that were apt treat to the music aficionados. Tania Mannan's offering of a romantic Tagore song “Gharete Bhromor Elo Gunguniye” inspired euphoria while noted singer Suman Mazumder captivated the audience with his pristine performance of a Kazi Nazrul Islam composition “Elo Oi Bonantey Pagol Boshonto”. The rendition reminded of a strong southern wind crisscrossing the woods.
Mohiuzzaman Chowdhury, ATM Jahangir, Sajia Hossain Proiti, Afroza Khan Mita and Shamima Parveen Shimu rendered solos while Meer Barkat and Mahmuda Akhtar recited at the festival.
Artistes of Chhayanat also presented two choral songs -- “Boshonto Elo Elo” and “Dola Lagilo Dokhinar Bon-e Bon-e”.
Enamul Haque Omar, Swarup Hossain and Badal Chowdhury on tabla, Asit Biswas on esraj, Iftekhar Hossain Sohel on keyboard and Pradip Kumar Roy on mondira instrumentally accompanied the performances.
Grameenphone assisted in the festival.
