Members of Rapid Action Battalion have detained four muggers along with Bangladeshi and Indian currencies in Mirpur and Mohakhali areas of the capital.
The detainees are: Masud Rana, 39, Quamrul Hasan, 30, Badsha Mia, 28, and Nayan, 28.
A team of Rab nabbed the four muggers along with Tk 4.65 lakh and 1.39 Indian rupees during a two-and-a-half-hour long drive till 12:30am today, said Qamrul Hasan, operation officer of Rab-1.
A number of bank cheques and national identity cards (NID) were also seized from their possession.
The muggers were detained for their alleged involvement with the mugging of Tk 47 lakh in the capital.
On July 1, muggers snatched around Tk 47 lakh after stabbing an owner of a money exchange agency in the capital's Niketan area.
