Prime accused Babul arrested
Police yesterday arrested the prime accused and four others in a care filed on charge of their involvement in stabbing two policemen and snatching away a man held on December 10 in a tree felling case at Chandpur village under Muktagchha upazila.
The arrestees are prime accused Babul Miah and his aides Habul Miah, Abdul, Quddus and Saju.
On a secret information, the law enforcers arrested the five from Rasulpur area in Madhupur upazila of Tangail district early yesterday, said Kamal Hossain, officer in-charge of Muktagachha police station.
Earlier on December 10, the arrestees committed the offence when two sub-inspectors Shahinur Rahman and Rezaul Karim in a drive arrested Babul Miah, an accused in a tree felling case, from his house in Chandpur area of the upazila.
The police team came under attack when they were escorting Babul to Muktagchha PS.
The attackers equipped with sharp weapons left the two SIs injured and snatched away Babul.
The injured policemen were later admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital and a case was filed with the police station in connection with the incident, said the OC.
Earlier, 15 more people, including five women, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the incident.
They were produced before a Mymensingh court on December 11 which sent them to jail, said police.
