Why haven’t you visited hills, Quader asks Khaleda
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader took a swipe at BNP today over the latter criticising Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for touring abroad in a time of disaster in the hills.
“When there’s a humanitarian crisis in the hilly districts, the BNP chief is busy in addressing press conferences in the capital,” Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports Quader as saying.
“The prime minister is constantly taking updates of the affected areas through video conferencing. But why you (Khaleda) or your party members have not visited the hills,” Quader asked.
“Though Khaleda is in the country she or her party affiliates have not stood by the victims,” Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said at a programme in Bogra.
“A team led by the chief secretary of the prime minister is constantly monitoring the situation in Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachari braving their life. The army is trying their best.”
“The prime minister has proved if one has the intention, it is possible to monitor things even from as far as Sweden,” he added.
