‘Politicians must bring back faith of people’
Leaders of two major political parties Awami League and BNP today univocally admitted that people’s faith on politicians is fading for the way they are behaving.
Democracy International organised the programme to give “champions of democracy” award to 61 leaders of AL, BNP and Jatiya Party for their contribution in politics.
BNP standing committee member Moyeen Khan said people’s confidence on politicians will have to be restored and the politicians must prove they want people’s welfare.
AL publicity affairs secretary and a spokesperson of the party, Hasan Mahmud, said confrontation, denial and hatred have maligned the politics of Bangladesh.
“We will have to replace the culture of confrontation with those of consultation and engagement to bring change in the country’s political landscape,” he said.
HT Imam, an adviser to the prime minister and Jatiya Party Presidium Member Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury were among others who spoke in the programme.
