Khaleda slams India for opening Farakka
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today criticised Indian authorities for opening all sluice gates of the Farakka barrage during the rainy season in Bangladesh.
India opens all sluice gates of the barrage during the rainy season, on the other hand, it keeps all the gates closed during the dry season, she blamed. “It does not call a friendship relationship.”
“We want a good relation and settlement of the Farakka issue through a discussion without bowing down our head,” Khaleda said while addressing a discussion at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in Dhaka this afternoon.
The programme was organised to mark the party’s 38th founding anniversary.
Rampal Power Plant Project harmful for Sundarbans
Khaleda Zia once again called upon the government to stay aside from implementation of the coal-fired power plant at Rampal near the world’s largest mangrove forest Sundarbans.
About the deals which have so far been signed with India, Khaleda said all the deals including the Rampal power plant are anti-people and anti-state as well.
