BNP to gear up movement for democracy: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said his party will gear up movement to revive democracy.
Accusing the government of violating rights of the people, the BNP leader said, “It (government) is currently steamrolling his party.”
Fakhrul was talking to journalists after BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia along with her party leaders and activists placed wreaths at BNP founder Ziaur Rahman’s grave in Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban area around 11:15am marking the party’s 38th founding anniversary.
She also offered prayers at the grave of Zia, also her husband.
The government is conspiring to eliminate BNP, Fakhrul alleged.
In a statement issued yesterday on the occasion of the anniversary, Khaleda said the law and order situation in the country was “at its worst”.
“So, our movement is to establish people's right and dignity,” she said.
