No talks with Khaleda: Quader
BNP Chairperson has shattered the atmosphere of talks with Sheikh Hasina by observing “fake birthday” on the National Mourning Day, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said today.
People observe August 15 as National Mourning Day as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with all family members, except his daughters Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana, were assassinated barbarically, he said.
Every people of the country know the matter but BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia observes her “fake birthday” on the day intentionally, he said.
“In this context, is there any atmosphere in the country to hold talks between Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia?” Quader questioned.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to express her sympathy to Khaleda Zia when her younger son Arafat Rahman Koko died but was denied of permission, Quader said.
“How the two leaders can sit across the table for discussion over the country’s political affairs,” Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, noted.
“We will not sit with Khaleda until she shuns the observance of her motivated birthday,” the Awami League leader cleared his party stance.
Diplomatic effort is on to bring back Bangabandhu’s killers
The government has continuously been trying to bring back the killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman home to ensure justice, he said.
“We are trying to repatriate Noor Chowdhury, a convicted killer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from Canada. Our efforts will be on until his repatriation,” he added.
