Good governance, politics of unity in BNP’s manifesto

Political opposition BNP has pledged good governance and forging a politics of unity in the 12-point manifesto it unveiled ahead of the general election.

The manifesto was unveiled by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir during the party’s rally at Suhrawardy Udyan today.

The 12-point manifesto entails:

- Good governance in every strata of the state and its mechanism.

- Formation of national unity in politics, shunning the politics of vengeance.

- Establishment of the rule of law in the state organs in a democratic way.

- Establishment of balance of power in the state.

- Transparent appointment of judges and independent judiciary.

- Strengthening and modernising the armed forces.

- Confirmation of freedom for the mass media.

- Reformation of Anti-Corruption Commission to curb corruption.

- Establishment of fundamental rights for all citizen.

- Drawing independent foreign policy based on friendship with all and hostility with none; upholding the country’s interest and dignity.

- Zero tolerance to terrorism and disallowing any terrorist group to use the soil of Bangladesh.

- Drawing economic policy and minimum wage structure with an aim to remove income disparity and improve living standard of low income and labour class people.
