Hasina leaves for Sweden Tuesday
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave Dhaka for Sweden on Tuesday upon an invitation by her Swedish counterpart Stefan Löfven.
This will be the first ever bilateral visit (June 15-16) by any head of state of Bangladesh to Sweden.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali told reporters that the visit will help expand cooperation between the two countries on a number of bilateral and regional issues, including climate change, SDGs implementation and combating terrorism, UNB reports.
He said the visit will also help bring a momentum in bilateral trade and investment, cooperation on migration, UN peacekeeping missions and Global Deal Initiative, UNB adds.
"Through the visit, Bangladesh's image in Europe and elsewhere in global arena is expected to be brightened further," he said.
The premier will have a stopover in London. She will lead a high-power delegation including a 47-member high-level business delegation during the visit, the FM said.
A one-to-one meeting will be held between Hasina and her Swedish counterpart Löfven.
Apart from that, Hasina will lead a delegation-level meeting.
The deputy prime minister, acting speaker, judiciary and migration ministers of Sweden will call on Hasina separately, Mahmood Ali said at the press briefing.
Different Swedish companies and business houses will also call on Hasina during her visit.
She will attend a Bangladesh-Sweden business and investment forum meeting.
Her visit will be followed by a joint statement. She is scheduled to return home June 17.
