Communications Minister Obaidul Quader today said the targeted development works have not been done due to political unrest in the country.
"We are still short of our target due to the countrywide political unrest," the minister told journalists while visiting the construction work of Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Salna area of Gazipur.
"We hope things will be steady in future and then it will provide speed in our works," he added.
Vowing to continue his fight against corruption, traffic jam and road crash, the minister said a dramatic change would be seen in the communication sector during the tenure of the government, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
He also hoped that the construction work of four-lane scheme of Joydevpur-Mymensingh highway would be completed by the middle of the next fiscal year.
