Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken the responsibility for medical treatment of noted lyricist Gobinda Halder who wrote a number of songs during the Liberation War to inspire freedom fighters.

Gobinda Halder is now undergoing treatment for old-age and kidney ailments at a Kolkata hospital.

The PM's Press Wing sources told BSS last night that the prime minister talked to the ailing lyricist over the phone in the evening, enquired about his health and took the responsibility for his treatment.

Earlier, the PM provided Tk 15 lakh for his treatment, the sources added.

Gobinda Halder wrote a number of famous songs including Mora Ekti Phulke Bachabo Bole Juddho Kori, Ek Sagor Rokter Binimoye Banglar Swadhinata Anlo Jara, Purbo Digonte Surjo Uthechhe Rokto Lal and Padma Meghna Jamuna Tomar Amar Thikana.
