PM, ministers pay homage to Bangabandhu
The council of ministers led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today paid rich homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi of the capital.
Hasina first placed a wreath as the PM at the portrait in Bangabandhu Memorial premises around 9:15 am. She stood there in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the great leader.
Ministers, advisers, state ministers and deputy ministers of the 49-member cabinet of the 10th parliament, who took the oath of office yesterday, were present during the occasion.
Later, flanked by senior leaders of Awami League, Hasina as president of the Awami League placed another wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
Senior leaders of Awami League and its associate bodies including Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Begum Matia Chowdhury, Abdul Latif Siddiqui, Mohammad Nasim, Advocate Shahara Khatun and Engr Mosharraf Hossain were, among others, present.
Sheikh Rehana, the youngest daughter of Bangabandhu, was also present on the occasion.
Hasina was sworn in as the PM of the new government at Bangabhaban after massive victory of the Awami League in the 10th parliamentary elections held on January 5 amid boycott by BNP-led 18-party alliance.
Ministers Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Mujibul Haque, Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Advocate Qamrul Islam and Asaduzzaman Noor; State Ministers Architect Yeafesh Osman, Meher Afroz Chumki, Bir Bahadur Ushai Singh, Nasrul Hamid Bipu, Shahriar Alam, Junaid Ahmed Polok; and Deputy Minister Arif Khan Joy were present.
AL leaders Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Omar Faruk Chowdhury, Asim Kumar Ukil, Molla Abu Kaiser and Pankaj Debnath were also present.
