PM flies to NY to attend UNGA
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka for the United States tonight to attend the 69th United Nations General Assembly with a 185-member delegation, the biggest entourage in the history of Bangladesh.
She is scheduled to address the UN session on September 27.
The premier will highlight international peace and security, democracy and good governance, empowerment of women, poverty alleviation and climate change in her speech in UNGA.
During the seven-day stays in New York, Hasina will participate in a variety of UN related meetings, side events, significantly a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On the sidelines, she will also meet with Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail V Myasnikovich, Ameer of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hasmad Al-Thani, Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and others.
Hasina along with her entourage members left Dhaka at 9:45pm by an Emirates flight. She will depart the United States on September 29 by a US Air flight and will have stop over on September 30 in London.
She will depart London by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight on October 1 and is expected to arrive in Dhaka at 10:40am on October 2.
