PM calls Khaleda queen of terror, militancy, graft
Terming BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia queen of militancy, terror and corruption, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said she is now carrying out terrorist activities in the country taking shelter at her Gulshan office.
“Please stop the violence in the name of blockade. Otherwise, you will have to face a dire consequence if the country men get annoyed,” she said.
“I will take all necessary steps to protect the people’s lives and properties,” the premier warned while addressing a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan this afternoon.
Taking a dig at Khaleda’s elder son Tarique Rahman for defaming Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from abroad, she termed Tarique as kulangars (black sheep). “Like mother, like son,” Hasina added.
The prime minister said Khaleda is not confined to her office but she has held countrymen hostage in the name of blockade.
Hasina denied any bar on Khaleda’s returning home from office saying, “She always prefers staying outside.”
Khaleda has made a mistake by boycotting the January 5 election. “She has to pay for that but why people will have to pay,” said Hasia, also president of Awami League.
The war crimes trail is in progress, it will continue and no one will be able to create obstruction on the way of the trial.
The ruling party organised the rally to commemorate the Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Meanwhile, AL General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam said the next parliamentary election will be held with Sheikh Hasina at the helm of the country.
BNP will face existence crisis if it boycotts the election, added Ashraf, also LGRD and Cooperatives minister, while addressing the rally.
Terming BNP as an “evil” political party, the AL called upon the party men to remain alert against any conspiracy or “ill attempt” by the party.
Approximately 40,000 supporters had gathered at the venue located inside Dhaka University defying the continuing blockade of BNP-led 20-party alliance.
