Opposition chief whip blasts Khaleda
Opposition Chief Whip Md Tajul Islam today lambasted BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for her Saturday’s remark that there is no opposition in the present “so-called” parliament.
Speaking on a point of order, Tajul, also a Jatiya Party lawmaker, said the BNP chief and her party who were in opposition bench seldom took part in the parliament session in the last five years.
“We are not like your [Khaleda] party who only attended parliament session to save membership and to get monthly payment and other perks,” Tajul.
The opposition chief whip also criticised Khaleda for not taking part in the January 5 national election.
“The prime minister [Sheikh Hasina] and every one of us requested your party [BNP] to participate in the national election. But we don’t know for whose order and fear you refrained from joining the race,” Tajul posed a question.
The former prime minister at a Saturday rally at Rajbari district commented that there is no opposition party in the 10th parliament.
