One found dead, five still missing
Amid abduction panic across the country, law enforcers have recovered a body of an abducted person in Thakurgaon and rescued two other victims in Moulvibazar and Savar.
Besides, five others remained traceless in different districts, report our correspondents.
In Thakurgaon, police recovered the decomposed body of an auto-bike driver, who was abducted on Tuesday, from a field of Chakhaldi village in Sadar upazila on Saturday.
The victim was identified as Akhtarul Islam, 28, of Dakkhin Salondar Munshipara village in Sadar upazila.
The victim's family members claimed that the abductors had been demanding Tk 50,000 as ransom. Being failed to secure the ransom, they killed Akhtarul, family members said.
Police have arrested two persons suspecting their involvement in the murder.
In Moulvibazar, police rescued a girl, who was abducted from Borolekha upazila on Thursday, from Tikerpara area in Bianibazar upazila of Sylhet around 4:00am yesterday.
The victim was identified as Kulsuma Begum, 12, daughter of Islam Miah of Dojgiri village in Borolekha upazila. Police have arrested two persons in this connection.
In Savar, police rescued a local BNP leader Rezwanul Haque, who remained missing from May 6, from Bipile area of Savar on the outskirts of Dhaka yesterday morning.
In Lalmonirhat, paddy trader Jahabul Islam, 35, son of Tamzid Uddin at Mesirpar village of Patgram upazila, has been missing since December 25 last year.
Police have arrested two ruling party men allegedly for their involvement in the abduction. The victim's family members alleged that police had helped other abductors flee.
In Chuadanga, farmer Inal Haque, 45, son of late Ajgar Ali of Zumma Bazar Para in Kutuppur union of Sadar upazila, has remained missing for more than three days.
Victim's family members alleged a group of unidentified miscreants numbering seven to eight had entered Inal's house around 2:00am Thursday night impersonating DB men. They picked up Inal at gun point.
However, Faruk Hossain, sub-inspector of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station, denied the allegation, and said no DB men had gone to the house that night.
In Mymensingh, police in the early hours of yesterday held two suspects from Char Sirta village in Sadar upazila of Mymensingh in connection with the disappearance of Sunamganj BNP leader Mujibur Rahman and his driver Rezaul Haque Sohel. The duo have been missing since May 4.
Meanwhile, wife of Benapole Municipality panel mayor Salma Akhter yesterday claimed that Rab members had abducted her husband, who remained traceless for more than one year.
