Nothing can stop war trials: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today once again reaffirmed the promise of her government, saying nothing can stop the trial of war criminals.
“We had pressures from the international community when we started the trial of war criminals. But the people of the country do not know to bow down their heads,” she said while addressing a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.
Hasina, also president of the ruling Awami League, vowed: “The trials are ongoing, will go on and the verdicts of the trials will be executed one by one on the soil of Bangla Inshallah.”
She alleged that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been siding with war criminals. “It becomes clear when we look at the placards and banners at her rallies demanding release of convicted war criminals.”
The premier said Khaleda had made the war criminals ministers and now they have been convicted of the crimes against humanity committed during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
Jubo League, the youth wing of the ruling party, organised the rally this afternoon to mark its 42th founding anniversary.
