‘Shibir men’ attack cops in capital
Police fired blank shots after they came under attack by a group of alleged activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir on Topkhana Road in the capital Sunday morning.
None was reported hurt during the clash.
The incident took place when the Shibir men brought out a procession around 11:30am and tried to vandalise vehicles there, Sheikh Maruf Hasan, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Raman Division), told The Daily Star.
As police tried to resist them, the Shibir activists hurled brick chips on them.
At one stage, police fired blank shots dispersing the Shibir men successfully, the police official added.
