Nasir to undergo surgery
Middle-order batsman Nasir Hossain is scheduled to undergo a surgery on his shoulder in South Africa right after the series against Zimbabwe concludes. The problem has reportedly occurred on Nasir's shoulder joint and rotator cuff -- a group of muscles and their tendons that act to stabilise the shoulder.
The problem, however, will not hinder Nasir from playing in Zimbawe later this month. “Nasir has a problem on his shoulder but it doesn't affect him. It won't be a problem if it is dealt with later,” said BCB's chief selector Akram Khan. The team management has informed that Nasir would fly directly from Zimbabwe to South Africa after the series.
2013 has been an unfortunate year for Bangladesh in terms of injuries. While Nasir's problem has not sidelined him, a number of his teammates had to be pull out of the tour of Sri Lanka due to injury issues. Nazmul Hossain, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Naeem Islam, Enamul Haque Jr, Shahriar Nafees, Abul Hasan, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan had to be excluded in the last series due to fitness issues.
