Teacher's brutality on madrasa boy

An 11-year-old orphan boy groans in pain on a hospital bed after a madrasa teacher on Friday allegedly tortured him inhumanely on charge of stealing Tk 150.

The victim is Shakil Ahmed, son of Mohibul Islam of Debipur village in Phulbari upazila. He is a Class V student of Debipur Hafizia Madrasa in the upazila.

The victim's grandfather Sabdul Mia said Shakil's father left him after his mother died three years ago.

Locals said Habib Uddin, an assistant teacher, lost Tk 150 on Friday. Later, he blamed Shakil for this.

As the boy refuted the allegation, Habib took the boy to a classroom and beat him there mercilessly with a stick.

On information, the grandfather rescued the boy around 7:00pm and took him to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex.

Dr Sonjoy Kumar Gupta  said the boy was badly injured due to the torture.

Contacted, the teacher refuted the allegation of torturing the boy.

Head teacher Bayjid Bostami said legal action will be taken against the accused teacher.
