Schoolgirl raped

A schoolgirl, raped allegedly by two youths at Rouha Kalapara village in Sadar upazila on Sunday evening, is under treatment at Sherpur Sadar Hospital.

The girl, 14, daughter of a poor rickshaw puller at the village, is a student of Class VII at a local high school.

Local youths Shakil, 20, Masud, 18, and Shipon, 20, used to harass her on the way to and from her school, police quoted the victim as saying.

Shakil had proposed 'love' to the girl which was rejected.

When the victim was returning home from a house at the same village, the three youths waylaid her around 8:00pm on Sunday.

They tied her mouth with a piece of cloth, took her to a nearby bamboo cluster where Shakil and Masud raped her with the help of Shipon.

Hearing the girl's scream, neighbours and relatives went to the spot and the three culprits managed to flee.

The victim was first given treatment locally and later shifted to Sherpur Sadar Hospital yesterday morning.

The process of filing of a case in this regard is underway and police are trying to arrest the criminals, said Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Nazrul Islam.
