Locals besiege Dinajpur police station to free accused

Local people besieged Dinajpur Sadar Police Station on Monday after police picked up a man with arms.

Md Sohel, 33, son of late Rashid Khalashi of Daptaripara village under Dinajpur municipality, was arrested from the area with a pistol, two bullets and a magazine.

Around 150 people besieged the police station about 8:30pm, demanding release of Sohel as they claimed that he was innocent. Later, police dispersed them at around 10:00pm after baton charge.

Police claimed that Sohel was wanted in two arms cases.

Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Redwanur Rahim said a police team raided Daptaripara area around 6:00pm on Monday and arrested the man with the arms and ammunition and took him to the police station.
