Brutality on two teenagers

A section of locals brutally tortured two teenage boys, alleging theft against them at Bangla Bazar in Baufal upazila headquarter under the district on Tuesday evening.

The victims are Md Imran, 15, son of Harun-Or-Rashid of Najirpur village under Baufal upazila, and Md Reaz, 13, son of Sumon of Dashpara fire service road area in Baufal municipality area.

Theft was committed in at least 25 houses in Baufal upazila in the last couple of days since the Eid, local sources said.

On Tuesday evening, some local people caught Imran and Reaz for their alleged involvement in stealing at the house of one Mizanur Rahman in Bangla Bazar area.

They tied the hands of the two boys at a market near Bangla Bazar bridge and mercilessly beat them with sticks.

At about 10:00pm, the boys were handed over to their guardians but they did not make any comment over the matter to journalists.

Md Monirul Islam, officer in charge of Baufal Police Station, said, “I heard the matter but nobody filed a case in this regard. If a case filed, we will take step against torturers after proper investigation.”
