4 JMB men arrested

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested four suspected members of banned outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Dakhhinsahar village in Sadar upazila on Monday night.

The arrestees are Akhtarul Islam, 46, son of Saifuddin Mondal of Choudala village in Gomostapur upazila, Abdul Kader, 30, son of Rustom Ali of Trimohoni-Mobarokpur, Aminul Islam, 30, son of Atarul Islam of Shibnagar village, and Abdur Rahman, 39, son of Kubed Ali Mondal of Baluchar in Shibganj upazila.

On secret information, a team of Rab-5 raided the area and arrested the four when they were holding a secret meeting there, said Squadron Leader Mohammad Sayed Abdullah Al Murad, camp commander of Chapainawabganj Rab camp.

The elite force also recovered one pistol, one magazine, five bullets, 400 grams of gunpowder and books on jihad from their possession.

During primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they are active members of JMB, said the Rab official.
