Two muggers impersonating DB men held

Police arrested two muggers in Chittagong city's Jail Road area early yesterday after they tried to rob two people by introducing themselves as detectives.

The arrestees are Shahidul Alam Imon, 22, and Golam Sarwar, 27. Police also seized a motorbike from their possession.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station Mohammed Mohsin said they are professional muggers, and used to commit crime in the guise of policemen.

The OC said the duo with another mugger Manik stopped a rickshaw around 4:30am, and tried to snatch the mobile phones of the two riders.

When the rickshaw riders started shouting for help, the muggers tried to flee, but were caught by locals, he added.
