State Minister Ranga checks licences on Rangpur road

State Minister for Rural Development and Co-operatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga yesterday checked driving licences and fitness certificates of vehicles, especially passenger buses, in Rangpur.

Ranga, also president of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners' Association, spent around two hours at various points on Rangpur-Gangachara road. He checked papers of around 100 vehicles.

He, however, found the licences and documents to be up to date.

Ranga urged the drivers to be more careful so that people can reach their destinations safely. He also stressed the need for adequate training facilities for drivers and said the government departments have to be more careful while issuing papers for vehicles.

Moshiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Gangachara Police Station, Shamsul Alam president of Gangachara upazila unit of Jatiya Party (JP), and Abul Kalam Azad, its general secretary, were also present.

JP presidium member Ranga is also president of its Rangpur district unit.
