Eighth-grader found dead at home
A school student was found dead at his residence in Chittagong city's Bakalia area yesterday morning.
The deceased -- Ashrafullah Adnan, 16, son of Sheikh Abul Hossain from Saroatoli in Boalkhali upazila of Chittagong -- was a class VIII student of Northern Public School and College, said Pranab Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Bakalia Police Station.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. His family members noticed the body hanging from the ceiling fan in a room at his residence on Sobhan Saodagar Road around 11:30am, said the OC.
Ashrafullah was scolded by his parents as he refused to visit their village home in Boalkhali upazila with them on Friday, police said quoting family members.
He stayed at home alone for one day, said the police officer.
The family found him dead after they had returned to the residence, he added.
Police primarily suspected that the teenager committed suicide. The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College morgue for an autopsy.
