Brutally beaten teenager succumbs to injuries

A teenage boy succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in Dhaka yesterday, days after he was mercilessly beaten by a group of youths.

Abdul Mannan Munna, 18, got involved in an altercation with another teenager, Mahi, at Gabtoli haat on August 21, a day before Eid-ul-Azha, family members said. Later that night, Mahi and his associates called Munna from his home and beat him up. Munna had been admitted in hospital since then in a critical condition.

A case was filed in this connection accusing six people who are still absconding, said Selimuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Darussalam Police Station.
