Abul Mansur Ahmad's birth anniv celebrated in M'singh

Commemorating renowned litterateur, journalist and politician Abul Mansur Ahmad's 120th birth anniversary, a discussion was held in Mymensingh yesterday.

Marking the day, “Jibonmukhi Pathchakra”, a study circle, organised the programme at its hall in the town.

Abul Mansur Ahmad brought variations in his writings, said the speakers, adding that such literary talent is rare in Bengali literature.

Terming him one of the best satirical writers, they said he showed how prose could be interesting for all readers.

They mentioned some of his famous literary works such as “Aina”, “Asmani Parda”, “Gulliverer Safarnama” and “Food Conference”.

Prof Afzal Rahman, chairman of Bengali department at Netrakona Govt College, chaired the programme.

Prof Mohammad Aman Ullah and Prof Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman of Govt Ananda Mohan College, and poet Shamsul Foyez, among others, spoke.

Abul Mansur Ahmad was born at Dhanikhola village in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh on September 3 in 1898. He died in 1979.
