BSF picks up 1 from Meherpur border
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) picked up a Bangladeshi national from Ramkrishnapur frontier in Gangni upazila of Meherpur Friday afternoon.
The victim is Shariful Islam, 40, son of Namaz Uddin of Dhola village in the upazila, reports our Kushtia correspondent.
BSF troops of Taipur camp of Indian Paschimbanga abducted Shariful when he went to collect grass near the main pillar No. 136 around 5:30pm, Rezaul Karim, a subedar of Kathuli camp of Border Guard Bangladesh, said on Saturday.
BSF handed him over to Morutia Police Station in Nadiya district of the Indian state on Friday, said Sanjib Ray, company commander of Dighalkandi BSF camp, told BGB personnel during a flag meeting held around 12:30pm Saturday.
Shariful have to face legal procedure as Indian police produced him before a court on Saturday, Rezaul told our Kushtia correspondent quoting the BSF official.
