19 rescued from traffickers at Jessore border
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued 19 people, including women and children, from Putkhali border in Jessore Friday morning while they were being trafficked to India.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team launched a drive at border area and rescued 11 women, six men and two children when they were being sent to India, said Abdul Haque, company commander of Putkhali camp under BGB-23 Battalion.
Sensing the presence of the paramilitary troops, the traffickers fled away, he said.
The victims hailed from different areas of Bhola and Barisal districts, reported our Benapole correspondent.
BGB later landed them over to Benapole Port Police Station.
A case was filed in this regard.
