US Ambassador to Bangladesh James F Moriarty has condemned the violence associated with protests at the headquarters of the Bangladesh Rifles.
“We express our sympathy to those injured in the violence and condolences to the families of those who have lost (their) loved ones in the violence,” he said as he spoke with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday evening.
He also expressed US support for the newly-elected democratic government, said a statement issued yesterday.
“We'll do what we can to assist the government at this critical time.”
Moriarty also spoke to leader of the opposition Khaleda Zia to convey his appreciation of her party's support to the government at this time.
