Prothom Alo Language Festival in Rangpur
Hundreds of parents and students of eight northern districts thronged the Rangpur Zila School premises to participate at the 'Prathom Alo Language Festival' recently.
About 800 students from 42 educational institutions of Rangpur, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Gaibandha, Nilphamri, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, and Panchagarh districts took part in the festival.
Students took a pledge to participate in nation building, speaking out against injustice and uphold the values of Liberation War.
Litterateur and former director of Bangla Academy, Farhad Khan; Assistant Professor of Dhaka University, Tarique Monjur; senior sub-editor of the daily Prathom Alo, Zafar Ahmed Rashed and headmaster of Rangpur Zila School, Abu Noor Mohammad Aminul Islam Choudhury were present at the festival.
Ahmed Rashed said that to keep alive the memory of the Language Movement martyrs, Prathom Alo organises this festival annually in different parts of the country.
Certainly with such festivals, the new generation may be better acquainted with Bangla and the history of Bangladesh.
