Funds generated for concert goes to ailing teacher
Taka 2.35 lakh generated from a fundraiser concert arranged in the district recently, was handed over to the family of Hassina Akhter, the headmaster of Pabna Salim Nazir High School. Hassina Akhter has been battling cancer.
The concert was jointly organised by the district administration, police administration, community policing, Pabna Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Pabna Press Club on June 17 this year in Pabna Stadium. Artists of Close Up 1 including Nolok Babu, Laboni and Shapla performed at the concert.
The money collected from the concert was given to the family of the ailing teacher at Pabna Press Club auditorium last Wednesday. President of Pabna Press Club, Rumi Khondokar chaired the programme. Pabna deputy commissioner, Khondoker Md. Mokhlesur Rahman was the chief guest at the programme.
Pabna police superintendent, AFM Masum Rabbani; convenor of Community Policing, Pabna district unit, advocate Mohammad Mohiuddin; and vice president of Pabna Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Mahbubul Alam Mukul spoke on the occasion.
The speakers expressed the view that as social beings it is our duty to lend a hand to someone in need. Hassina Akhter, a teacher who has been contributing to nation-building through educating youngsters, is now fighting for her life. It is our duty to help her, they said.
They went on to add that while it is true that the money collected from the concert is perhaps inadequate for the treatment, it is a noble attempt. Everyone should come forward to support this cause.
