Ctg, RU demos go on with same fervor
Demonstrations demanding death penalty for all war criminals for crimes committed against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War continued with the same fervor in Chittagong and Rajshahi University, as elsewhere in the country, yesterday.
Our Chittagong correspondent reports: Demonstrations continued unabated on the sixth day on Chittagong Press Club premises in the port city as thousands, irrespective of age and affiliation, came together to press home the demand.
The sit-in programme, initiated by Samprodayikota Birodhi Torun Udjog, Chittagong (Anti-Communal Youth Initiative, Chittagong) resounded with slogans, patriotic songs and drum beats, gaining momentum as the day wore on.
Our RU correspondent reports: Yesterday was the 5th day of demonstrations in RU as over 2,000 students, teachers and staff, under a “Gonomancha†banner, brought out a procession before holding a rally at Tukitaki Chhattar.
The demonstrators, including those from law, mass communication and journalism, and history departments, said war criminals should commit suicide for their misdeeds during the Liberation War.
