A portrayal of Jatra
Barhatta Kongsha Theatre, a cultural organisation from Netrakona, staged a play titled "Bokkor Chokkor Moinuddin" at Muktarpara Mukta Mancha in Netrakona town on Wednesday night.
The play, written and directed by Prodip Kumer Sarker, portrayed the Jatra art form, which is now facing extinction. It also featured the once flourishing Jari, Shari and Bhatiali folk songs that used to occupy a firm niche in Bengali culture.
Prior to the staging of play, local MP Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru addressed the audience.
Kongsha Theatre was established in 1986 with the support of renowned playwright Salim Al-Deen. The organisation started their programme with the staging of Salim Al-Deen's play "Bason" and till now has staged 24 plays enumerable times.
