Police constable held for attempted snatching
Locals caught red handed a police constable when he allegedly tried to snatch Tk 10 lakh from a cattle trader in Gabtali cattle market area in the capital last night.
The constable, Sajal Roy of Gabtali police outpost, was later handed over to Darussalam Police Station.
Quoting locals, Khalilur Rahman Patwary, officer-in-charge at the police station, said Sajal, who was in plain clothes, intercepted cattle trader Ibrahim challenging that he was carrying fake notes in the area around 8:00pm.
"Forcing Ibrahim to get down from rickshaw, he tried to snatch the money in the name of searching the cattle trader," he said.
“Sajal is now in custody at the police station. A case was filed in this connection,” the OC said.
During primary interrogation, Sajal denied his involvement in the incident, he added.
