First ever Bio-Olympiad held at SUST
The country's first ever Biology Olympiad was held on the campus of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet yesterday.
Department of Genetics and Biotechnology of SUST arranged this event where 250 students of 25 schools and colleges took part.
Sources said the contest started at 11:00am in the mini-auditorium.
A written test of 50 marks was held followed by a question-answer session.
"You are the resources of the country. Utilise your merit to make the country prosperous," said eminent writer and computer science and engineering department head Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal while addressing a discussion held later.
Proctor Dr Himadri Shekhar Roy and physics department head Dr Yasmeen Haque addressed the discussion with genetics and biotechnology department head Abul Kalam Azad in the chair.
Organiser sources said the prize giving ceremony will be held on March 9.
Earlier, around 1700 students participated in the preliminary selection round of the contest held from December'11 to mid Janury'12.
