Lemon24 wins WSYA award
Bangladeshi online radio lemon24.com wins the prestigious World Summit Youth Awards (WSYA) award as one of the most outstanding examples of creative and innovative e-content addressing the UN Millennium Development Goals in the Category - Create Your Culture.
The project was selected from 630 applicants from 102 countries as one of the 18 wining projects in six categories.
The award will be given during the Untied Nations Millennium Development Goals review summit in New York where the winners will be able to showcase their projects to government, business leaders and international community.
Lemon24.com is an interactive online and mobile-based entertainment radio station in Bangladesh developed by Multimedia Content and Communications Ltd, which is broadcasting its programme around the world.
"These young people show how to take concrete steps towards a better world," said Peter A Bruck, chairman of the WSYA project.
Participants of this contest use the internet and mobile media to take action on the implementation of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
The UN Millennium Development Goals were implemented in 2000 to assure that the world is free from poverty, hunger, disease, discrimination and environmental degradation. UN member nations agreed to work together towards achieving the MDGs by 2015.
