4 girls rescued, one held

Police rescued four girls and arrested an alleged trafficker from Sitkibari village under Rajoir upazila of the district early Wednesday.
The rescued girls are -- Swarnali Bal, daughter of Bakul Bal, Dulali Bal, daughter of Bhasharam Bal, Shibani Bal, daughter of Goura Bal and Sweety Bal, daughter of Nidhan Bal. All of them hail from Krishnapur village under Sadar upazila of the district.
Police later arrested Lima Bal, 25, wife of Pankaj Bal of the same village on charge of trafficking.
Local sources said on Tuesday evening, Lima took the four girls to one of her relative's house at Sitkibari village promising them good jobs in Dhaka.
On information, at around 1:00am on Wednesday, police along with the chairman of Boultali union raided the house of Promoth Biswas at Sitkibari village and rescued the girls.
Police are looking for the ring leader of the syndicate, said Borhar Uddin, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station.
